Hello everyone! Welcome to my first post of the year. I would like to start by wishing you all a wonderful year! I really do hope this year will be the best year you’ve ever had and that the things you’ve worked hard for pay off! This year was a big year for me, so I thought it would be nice to do a little recap of my favorite moments. Here we go!
In January, my boyfriend and I flew off to Cuba for our first trip alone. It was all a very exciting experience, though quite stressful at certain times. We booked the trip on the Sunwing website about a month beforehand, even though we had talked about leaving and all several months before. We wanted a relaxed trip that would allow us to just chill and refuel before going back to school. I must say, the weather wasn’t fantastic, it was quite cold for Cuba, and we had a few rainy days, but all in all, we got to relax and just enjoy each other’s company. We went to an all inclusive hotel in Varadero, and the beach was absolutely amazing! Of course, we had to get there early in order to get a good spot, but it was worth it!
In March, I got to go see my third Passenger concert. If any of you don’t know who he is, go check out his music. I love him so much! This year was the first year that he was accompanied by a band, but he was just as amazing as the other years! If you’re considering going to see him next time he tours, I would strongly recommend it. He is such a genuine and funny person, I would no doubt go to a fourth concert!
As a Christmas gift last year, my boyfriend’s parents got us an Estrimont Suite & Spa gift package that included a night stay at the facilities (that comes with access to the pools and spas outside), a four course meal and the hotel’s restaurant and a nice breakfast in the morning. We decided to go during March break, a few days after my Passenger concert actually. It wasn’t too far, it took us about an hour and a half to get there from where we live. When we arrived, we were very well welcomed. The staff was very nice. The room was very nice, pretty big also. It had a tiny kitchen, a bathroom, a big bed, a fireplace and a living area with a couch. It also had a television. We had made dinner reservations for 6:30 PM and had arrived a little after lunch time. In the meantime, we took advantage of the spas outside. Even though there was still snow on the ground, it was very nice to be outdoors in the water. Once we had had enough of being outside in the water, we decided to just go lay in bed a little bit and see what was on TV. We then got dressed nicely and went down for dinner. I had a sweet corn soup, a caesar salad, the mushroom risotto and the chocolate cake. My boyfriend had the beetroot soup, the salmon tartar, the lobster pasta and the crème brulée. It was all very good, and, once again, the service was great! We ended the night with a nice cup of tea. We had plans to go to the pool after dinner, but we were both so full, we decided to just relax in the room. Finally, before leaving the next morning, we made our way downstairs and had a lovely brunch style breakfast. I really loved my experience, and would definitely go back. It is on the pricey side, especially for us students, but if you have the money and want to splurge on a nice treat, I would definitely recommend this place!
I would be lying if I didn’t say running has taken up a big part of my year. From April to November, I ran about 3 times a week. I did write a whole blog post on it, but I still wanted to give it a little mention. I am really proud to have been able to consistently train for almost 6 months. It wasn’t always easy, but I’ve ran further than ever before and faster than ever before and if I am honest, it is so good to see how far you’ve come.
This year, I’ve taken a big step and I’ve started this blog. I plan on writing a whole blog post on this topic, but it really was a big step for me. I usually shy away from anything that could expose who I am. I really do enjoy blogging though and I am so excited to see what the future holds regarding this blog.
My little lakeside getaway
This year has really been full of little getaways with my boyfriend. Around the end of the summer, we decided to go on one last one before school. I’ve worked many hours this summer, leaving me with little time to actually rest. I decided to plan a little getaway for when I would have my time off from work (I get two weeks off to take during the year, I usually take them during the summer to enjoy the outdoors and be able to have little getaways such as this one.) I also wrote a post all about it, but wanted to mention it once again, because it really was one of my highlights for this year. I can’t explain how good it was to disconnect from the internet and all. I would’ve thought having no cell signal/internet would’ve been difficult, but I actually really liked it. I feel like we spend so much time on here and don’t really realise how caught up in it we are. It feels good to let it go and really enjoy the outdoors, the people around and all.
I think that sums up pretty well the best moments I’ve had this year. Thank you so much for reading, I am thankful for every single person that takes the time to read my blog. Don’t forget to like this post and follow the blog (either via email or WordPress) if you’ve enjoyed this post!
